Langsamer 2D Graphikaufbau?

ja hallo erstmal,..

ich habe das "Gefühl", dass mein neues Notebook (Siemens Lifebook C1320) ein 
wenig Probleme beim 2D Graphikaufbau hat. Obwohl ich im KDE alle Effekte 
deaktiviert habe, scheinen sich die Fenster nur langsam aufzubauen. Bestes 
Beispiel: Beim Abmelden ergraut der Bildschirm nicht direkt  - das Bild wird 
langsam (also in 1-2 sec) von oben nach unten grau - diese "Langsamkeit" 
kenne ich sonst nur von xdmcp-Sitzungen.
Das Notebook hat einen Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express 
Graphics Controller  
lspci sagt:

Dazu verwende ich einen 2.6.17.6 Eigenbau, der 
PCI-E support integriert hat. Das Laden des i915-DRI Modules funktioniert. 
Leider weiß ich nicht genau, wo ich Anfang muss - aber 
eigentlich erwarte ich einen etwas zügigeren Graphikaufbau - Zur Zeit habe 
ich hier das Gefühl ich mache xdmcp auf einem 100MBit-Ethernet.

Weiß jemand Rat?
