"In your /etc/hotplug/blacklist file, add snd-intel8x0m, then save and
restart. Your problem should be fixed then. hotplugging is loading the
driver for the intel8x0 softmodem, and that's interfering with your
soundcard. If you blacklist the snd-intel8x0m module, hotplugging will load
the correct snd-intel8x0 module for your laptop's soundcard, and everything
will work correctly."
