XFree Probleme bei Laptop Installation

Hallo,

ich stehe vor der Aufgabe, einen alten TexasInstruments Laptop,

TravelMate 6050

mit Debian betriebsfertig zu machen. Die Kiste hat 32MB RAM, 1,4G HD
und 1MB VideoRAM. Ein 150MHz Pentium ist drin, und als Grafikchip
werkelt ein Cirrus Logic 7548.

Und da kommt dann auch das Problem: Das System läuft, und nachdem ich ne
passende ModeLine gebastelt habe, spricht X auch das Display an, so dass
ein klares Bild steht. Die Maus reagiert dann aber nur für einie
Sekunden, und danach reagiert das System auf lokale Eingaben nicht mehr.
Sprich: auch CTRL-ALT-Backspace hat keinen Effekt. Der Mauszeiger
verschwindet einfach. Per ssh komme ich dann noch auf die Kiste drauf,
aber außer rebooten bleibt nicht viel übrig.

Habe es zuerst woody mit XFree 4.1 probiert, und dann testweise auf 4.2.1
upgedatet. Jeweils das gleiche Symptom. 

/var/log/XFree86.0.log

füllt sich (zumindest bei 4.2.1) mit

minl(40)

eine 'echte' Fehlermeldung fehlt jedoch. X lädt alle Module und
beschwert sich, soweit ich das sehen kann, über nichts.

Ich denke mal mir fehlt der ein oder andere Kniff für die XF86Config-4.
Daher poste ich die von mir verwendete Konfig mal. Bei Bedarf kann ich
auch /var/log/XFree86.0.log posten.
