CUPS + Laserjet4 und 2up/4up -> Müll, wieso?

Hallo,

das folgende auf Englisch, da ichs auch als Bug gemeldet habe und zu faul
bin es noch mal zu übersetzen. Ihr könnt aber auf Deutsch antworten, falls
ihr eine Lösung habt. :-)

Es geht um CUPS, HPIJS/ljet4, und Ghostscript.

Hello,

for some versions now (I suspect about since April 2003) I cannot any more
print the output of a2ps -2 or -4, psnup, or any other utility that changes
Postscript files so more pages fit on one sheet of paper.

Acrobat Reader, gv, xpdf, kghostview and 'gs' all display the page
correctly. I suppose it's a ghostscript problem because it's independant of
the printer driver.

I have a Laserjet 4 and use CUPS. I tried the ljet4 and the hpijs driver. I
tried a2ps, psnup, re-rendering via ps2ps, ps2pdf, the appropriate setting
in the KDE print dialog, and it's always the same result:

- In 300 dpi, I get the top left quarter of the original page.
- In 600 dpi, I get the left side of the original page, stretched to double
  the intended width.

If I do NOT rearrange the pages via a2ps, and print with 300dpi, I get a
correct printout.

Please tell me what I am messing up. I am out of ideas.. =;(

Thank you!
