eth0: Media Link off
Hallo,
mit meinem neuen Rechner gelingt es mir nicht, mich ins Internet
einzuwählen. Ich habe hier ein ASRock K7S8X-Mainboard mit
LAN-on-board. Der Chip ist wohl ein SiS900.
Wenn ich jetzt "modprobe sis900; ifconfig eth0 up" (selbstkompilierter
vanilla-2.4.21) eingebe, erscheint entweder sofort "eth0: Media Link
off" oder so etwas:

Da das Kabel mit dem alten Rechner geht, kann es daran nicht liegen.
Google sagt, dass andere auch dieses Problem haben und es evtl.
am Treiber liegen könnte. Ich vermute, dass der Chip mit 100mbps
angesprochen wird, er aber nur 10mbps kann. Ich habe mal versucht,
die Einstellung mit "ethtool -s eth0 speed 10 duplex half" zu ändern,
erhielt aber ein "Operaton not supported". Ideen?
