Der 17" Monitor macht max. 1280x1024 wenn mit anderen Rechnern

Auf dem Motherboard von ECS ELITEGROUP ist ein SIS730S Grafikchip.
Dieser Chip kommt auch in Billig-Notebooks auf den Markt (Ich habe ihn

1. bei der Debian-Installation habe ich den SIS530 Treiber gewaehlt, in
der Hoffung, dass er zum SIS730S kompatibel ist. Es funktioniert auch
bis 1024x768. Danach habe ich mit /usr/X11R6/bin/xf86cfg, mit xf86config
die anderen SIS-Treiber ausprobiert. Das Ergebnis war nicht besser. Dann
habe ich mit von der Webseite von Thomas Winischhofer
(http://www.winischhofer.net/linuxsis630.shtml) X driver und SIS DRI
Treiber (precompiled for Debian) heruntergeladen und in die entspr.
Verzeichnisse kopiert. Auch damit habe ich das Ziel nicht erreicht.
Nach diesen Woody-Experimenten das gleiche mit sarge. Sarge hat einen
SiS630-Treiber! Der sollte auch SiS730 unterstuetzen. Aber gleiches
Ergebnis: max 1024x768.
Es soll unter der webseite:
http://www.jetway.com.tw/evisn/download/driver/index-2.htm
auch einen Linux-Treiber anno 2001 fuer den SiS630/730 zum Herunterladen
geben. Aber diese Site ist langsam und bricht staendig ab. Ausserdem ist
in Sarge schon ein SiS630 Treiber enthalten.

Der Rechner soll als Büro-Rechner zum Einsatz kommen mit Openoffice,
Evolution, CRM und Warenwirtschaftssystem-Tests (Vorgruendungs-Phase)
sollen hauptsaechlich zum Einsatz kommen. Da meist mehrere Programme
gleichzeitig benötigt werden, waere ein groesserer Bildschirm besser.
