woody: delete key bringt nur ~ + \a

Hallo allerseits,

weiss jemand, was ich an meinem woody server einstellen muss, damit
ich auf der console die delete Taste benutzen kann?

Irgendwas ist da komisch. delete ist auf ^d gemappt. Warum?

Ich logge mich remote per ssh ein, shell ist
bash2.

Die installation ist noch relativ frisch (dist-upgrade von potato)

console-tools sind installiert, falls das relevant ist:

pluto:~# COLUMNS=100 dpkg -l|grep -i console
ii  console-common    0.7.14 
ii  console-data      1999.08.29-24 
ii  console-tools       0.2.3-23.3
ii  console-tools-libs  0.2.3-23.3
pluto:~#

Die Version von console-data kommt mir allerdings etwas komisch vor.
