XFree86 4.2.1 stirbt mit Signal 11



Hallo,

nach dem Upgrade von woody auf sarge startet hier der X-Server nicht mehr.
Nach
dem Aufruf von 'startx' flackert der Bildschirm nur kurz und ich bin wieder
auf der Konsole.

Ich benutze eine Matrox G400MAX, Kernel 2.4.19, XFree86 4.2.1-3 aus sarge.

Das ist von dpkg-reconfigure im "simple"-Modus erzeugt worden, aber auch die
Konfiguration, die ich bisher mit den 4.1.x-Versionen problemlos benutzt
habe, führt zu
dem selben Ergebnis. Änderungen der Refreshraten und Farbtiefe helfen auch
nicht
weiter, eine Google-Suche bringt mich auch nur zu der Vermutung, dass das
Problem wohl am Grafiktreiber liegt.

Was kann ich ausprobieren, um mein XFree86 doch noch zum Laufen zu kriegen?
