Ich tippe mal, du hast einen falschen Audiostream erwischt.

mplayer -v -dvd 1

gibt dir u.a. die verfügbaren Streams mit aus. Wähl mal einen AC3
Stream in deiner Lieblingssprache mit -aid <Nummer> aus.

Desweiteren kommen solche Probleme nicht von ungefähr. Stichwort
"offene Standards". Du solltest dir wirklich überlegen, ob du der
Industrie so einen Sch*** abkaufen willst. Wären Konsumenten in ihren
Handlungen nicht so unglaublich beschränkt, hätte sich sowas wie die
DVD niemals im Massenmarkt durchgesetzt. Nur meine 5¢.
