Die Plattengröße ist eigentlich nicht so wichtig, hauptsache, sie wird
erkannt, was manchmal mit älterem Rechnerbios etwas problematisch sein
kann.

0x04 "Sector not found". This typically indicates a geometry
mismatch.
If you're booting a raw-written disk image, verify whether it was
created for disks with the same geometry as the one you're using. If
you're booting from a SCSI disk or a large IDE disk, you should
check, whether LILO has obtained correct geometry data from the
kernel or whether the geometry definition corresponds to the real
disk geometry. (See section "Disk geometry".) Removing COMPACT may
help too. So may adding LINEAR.
Gib lilo einmal die Plattengeometrie als Parameter mit (die steht
i.d.R. aufgedruckt auf der Platte). Offenbar sind sich BIOS und lilo
da noch uneins. Evtl. mußt Du noch LBA im BIOS abschalten und auch
dort die echte Geometrie angeben.

Neuere lilo Versionen können zwar einen Kernel auch aus
Zylindernummern über 1023 holen, aber sowas ist nicht unbedingt zu
empfehlen.
Achte darauf, daß Deine Bootpartition am Anfang der Platte liegt und
kleiner 1023 Zylinder (512MB) ist. Am einfachsten geht das, indem Du
eine separate Partition für /boot anlegst, die am Anfang liegt und
entsprechend klein ist. Dann bist Du auf der sicheren Seite.
