Problemes amb adept

Benvolguts usuaris de la llista de correu catalana de debian
Estaria agraït si algú em pogués ampliar alguna informació sobre el que
m'ha pasat.
Faig servir debian etch, en arrencar l'ordinador em surt a la barra una
nota d'adept indicant que tinc un nou paquet per instal.lar, obro adept
i m'indica el seguent:

Em proposa intal.lar 2.6.18.dfsg.1-13etch3 en lloc de la versió
instal.lada 2.6.18.dfsg.1-13etch2

L'indico que instal.li peró se'm queda a mitges, no acaba la
instal.lació i em surt el següent missatge d'error:

Reinicio, em segueix indicant que tinc un paquet per instal.lar pero ara
ja no puc entrar a adept, em diu que hi ha un altre procés d'adept en
marxa i es limita a llistar-me tots els paquets disponibles.
No se com però això ho he pogut solucionar mitjançant la consola:

dpkg -- configure -a

Però quan intentava tornar a instal.lar aquest paquet em tornava a
passar el mateix, finalment he instal.lat el paquet en questió
mitjançant synaptic, però no entenc ben bé perquè fent servir una versió
estable passen aquests problemes.
En fer servir una versió estable accepto sistemàticament tots els nous
paquets que em notifica adept, suposo que son noves versions o pegats de
paquets que ja tinc instal.lats. Es això correcte ?.
