72 is about the longest you can go and still be both readable and
quotable.  Considering some lines in Sylpheed-Claws seem to violate
linewrap settings on a regular basis, I'd file bug reports against it
for bad word wrapping or to have the default moved to 72.  Emacs word
wrap does both already, so it always comes out right.  Short lines are
also easier to read than long ones, I've lately seen people start
advocating 65 column lines.

Mod your conf.  It's pretty straightforward, compare your original
exim config against the one you got from dman and it should make
itself apparent.  Exim configs aren't hard, it should be visually
apparent.
