potato->woody ==portmapper problems

Hello people,

I just upgraded my system to woody, and everything seems to
run fine exept I can't get fam (file alteration manager) to
work now.

I get the following error:
"Cannot register service: RPC: Unable to receive; errno =
Connection refused fam[10940]: can't register with
portmapper."

My inetd.conf looks like it has been slightly mangeled by
the upgrade, but I am unsure of how it is 'supposed' to look
like, the line concerning fam is OK though.
(sgi_fam/1-2 stream rpc/tcp wait root /usr/local/bin/fam
fam)

the entry in /etc/rpc is ok too:
sgi_fam 391002 fam

I suspect that there is a really simple/stupid solution to
this, but I don't really know anything about rpc or
portmapper. I am also very new to Debian, only having used
Potato for about 2 days before I wanted to get Woody...

thanks for any help.

Andreas
