I can reproduce the problem on Buster and that it is not present on Bullseye. I don't see any patch differences though. The latex command appears to work too. This problem occurs when I install texlive-latex-base texlive-luatex from src:texlive-base. We only updated texlive-bin but the issue appears to be in texlive-base now ? Are there any major differences between those sources packages in Buster and Bullseye? I had to run mtxrun --script luatex-core.lua in src:texlive-bin to create luatex-core.c from scratch. I used the tool from Buster. Could this be the root cause of the problem? Regards, Markus
