Hi Florian,
might I remind you what you once said on 27. Sep 2004:

Have a nice day.
Are you still working on this?
This quote is rather misleading. It's from the other Florian. I
said I planned to solved this in another comment, though, but I
didn'get anywhere.
In [1] Florent made some suggestions to solve the issue. In [2] you (at
least I hope so) stated "I'm indeed willing to package META-Type1,
provided that (a) we can obtain an DFSG-free license for this package"
This is what Norbert quoted.
There appears to be a somewhere current distribution here:
<https://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/fonts/utilities/metatype1/>
And the README file in metatype1-ver056.zip says:
| This is METATYPE1 package -- a tool for creating Type 1 fonts using
| METAPOST. The package belongs to public domain (no copyrights, copylefts,
| copyups, copydowns, etc.).
|
| Version: 0.56 (27.04.2015; a tentative version, released along with
| the sources of the Latin Modern fonts ver. 2.003)
| Author: JNS team <JNSteam@gust.org.pl>
So perhaps the licensing situation has been resolved.
Not sure if "public domain" is DFSG compatible.
I tend to lower that bug to wishlist and retitle: "please package
META-Type1"
Makes sense.
Doing so.
