As pointed out bei "Jean-Christophe Dubacq" (unfortunately only to the debian-tex-maint mailing list): pdflatex produces correct output, meanwhile latex/dvips breaks the document. Is switching to pdflatex an option for you? 2. You said you contact Heiko and Nicola Talbot. Did you ever get a response. Given the fact that pdflatex and latex are the same binary I tend to say that if must be the outpout driver (hdvips.def vs. hpdftex.def) and should be submitted to hyperref.
