Package: pdfjam
Version: 2012.20120611-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
typing this command, I obtain this error in output:

$ pdfjam
  pdfjam ERROR: can't find pdflatex!

Moreover, using another command I obtain the same error in output

$ pdfjam  input.pdf --paper a6paper --outfile output.pdf
  pdfjam ERROR: can't find pdflatex!

To solve, I suggest to add a dependency (or suggested or recomended) package, that is:

  texlive-latex-base

Moreover, I suggest also to add this dependency (or suggested) package, that is:

  texlive-latex-recommended

Because without the latest package I obtain another error message

$ pdfjam  input.pdf --paper a6paper --outfile output.pdf
   pdfjam ERROR: LaTeX package pdfpages.sty is not installed

Thanks

Regards

Fabio

-- Package-specific info:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We will only consider bug reports concerning
the packaging of TeX Live as relevant. If you have problems with
combination of packages in a LaTeX document, please consult your
local TeX User Group, the comp.text.tex user group, the author of
the original .sty file, or any other help resource.

   *** The Debian TeX Team is *no* LaTeX Help Desk ***

If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries
(latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong
output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the
error in your report.

Please run your example with
	(pdf)latex -recorder ...
(or any other program that supports -recorder) and send us the generated
file with the extension .fls, it lists all the files loaded during
the run and can easily explain problems induced by outdated files in
your home directory.

Don't forget to also include minimal examples of other files that are
needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps
to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures!

If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of
output (except when multiple pages are needed to show the problem),
you can probably minimize it further. Instructions on how to do that
can be found at

or

Hi Fabio,

I'm going through some old bugs.

Currently pdfjam is gone, it is provided by texlive-extra-utils

hille@debian-amd64-sid:~$ apt-cache search pdfjam
texlive-extra-utils - TeX Live: TeX auxiliary programs

This package however depends on texlive-latex-base.

hille@debian-amd64-sid:~$ apt-cache show texlive-extra-utils|grep -i dep
Depends: tex-common (>= 6), libunicode-linebreak-perl, python,
texlive-base (>= 2019.20190605), texlive-binaries (>= 2019.20190605),
texlive-latex-base (>= 2019.20190605)

So, this part is solved.

Further texlive-extra-utils recommends texlive-latex-recommended

hille@debian-amd64-sid:~$ apt-cache show texlive-extra-utils|grep Rec
Recommends: ghostscript, libfile-homedir-perl, liblog-log4perl-perl,
libyaml-tiny-perl, ruby | ruby-interpreter, texlive-latex-recommended

Recommendations are installed, if not configured else in apt.

So, your bug is already solved, I close it shortly before its 5th
birthday. ;-)
