package: texlive-latex-extra
version: 2014.20140717-1
severity: important
justification: this dependency package is too huge to be installed as a
default

most people installing latex likely already know latex and those who
want to use the doc package can manually install if they wish.

having to download 279mb doc package is kind of spoils the package split
rationale. texlive-latex-extra-doc should only be in suggests and not
recommends. It also adds to the image size of first dvd.

Already discussed a thousand times. There are enough LaTeX packages
that require distribution *as*a*whole*, which means including the
documentation. THere are two options: either make the dependency on
the doc pakcage a recommends, as it is now, or include it in the
original package, which forces everyone.

Now you can deselect the doc packages if you don't want them, and
apt* will not complain.

Closing the bug. Just deselect the doc package before installing.
