Bug#570901: Bumping up severity; any progress in this bug?

updmap will update map files for general TeX output drivers,
i.e. not only dvipdfmx but also other drivers like dvips etc.

But dvips doesn't support the format of pTeX fonts so it will
cause problems with, at least, dvips.

As I wrote in a previous email, dvipdfmx is exceptional because
it is in a standard TeX (like TeXLive) but supports pTeX fonts also.

Of course, it is no problem to modify configuration files for 
dvipdfmx only but I'd like to suggest it is safe not to treat 
pTeX fonts with updmap etc.

So if you never think to use updmap etc. it's okay.
I might be too much worrying.
