I tend to disagree here.  The format of the font does not matter: just
the way of hooking up fonts in dvipdfmx.cfg matters here, I think.

Just as above: not the format of the font is important, but the fact
that it needs a few entries in dvipdfmx.cfg.

dvipdfmx doesn't need a special configuration for pTeX; just a few
entries for some fonts to get CID working.  Or did I miss something?
