Installing is generally not possible - but of course you can execute
binaries in the build dir.

I think something like that has been discussed, but not yet
implemented. I fear that a pbuilder chroot is one of the less safe
types of chroots, given all the hooks it executes.

Well, if we have a test case, I'd first verify that it actually fails
(or gives wrong output?) on the possibly affected machines. After that
we upload a version with the patch and try again.
Not very elegant, but at least it means we know that we are fixing an
actual problem, not just apply patches.
