I have now upgraded to tetex-base-bin 2007-9 and tetex-base 2007-7 after
restoring the conffiles. I assume the other packages will install properly
too, will do that now. What puzzles me is that restoring the conffiles did not
succeed with 2007-8 and 2007-7, respectively, I had to go back to 2007-7
and 2007-6 to do so. The other packages had to be downgraded due to
dependencies. Will report if any new errors occur, otherwise all is fine
with me regrading this bug report.

Nothing, I saw that -8 is the new version even since it is dated May 2.
Maybe you also saw the -7.1 works, at least with base-bin-7 and base-6.
