Nope, they were not installed. Using the --force-confmiss dpkg option as
suggested by Frank did work and solved the problem. Seems I suffered
from #420390 too.
About your second mail: I never touched these configuration files. If
they have been changed, it must have been done by some maintainer
script(s).
Maybe you should add a hint to bug/presubj about this bug, so at least
people trying to report the same bug are directly forwarded to the right
bug report and the solution (because this bug has already been closed,
apt-listbugs does not list it anymore).
