I'm still really stuck on this one, unable to purge, reinstall, or remove. The attached log gives the gory details. For good measure, it looks as if I've exposes some aptitude bug. A nuggest from the log: dpkg: error processing preview-latex-style (--remove): Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should reinstall it before attempting a removal.
