Indeed, that is weird. After the upgrade, there is actually a circular symlink: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 30 2005-02-28 15:03 /etc/texmf/cyrplain/cyrtex.cfg -> /etc/texmf/cyrplain/cyrtex.cfg but looking with mc in the deb shows this file as a regular file. I am attaching the typescript. It's ugly with ^M's all around, sorry. Next time, I won't use 'script'.
