Grr, that's not nice. I have meanwhile found NOWLINKDIRS in the preinst
of tetex-base. In principle one could add
/usr/share/texmf/fonts/map/{dvipdfm,dvips,pdftex} there. That way all
teTeX packages should install cleanly. However, it would be quite hidden
to most users that their locally installed fonts are no longer available.
I guess that would be difficult to debug for most users. :-(
