Indeed, it does, thanks! And if there is no directory updmap.d in
$TEXMFHOME update-updmap called by a normal user uses the one in
/etc/texmf? As I wrote in an answer to Frank there is neither a
directory updmap.d nor a file updmap.cfg in $TEXMFHOME. Anyway I can
use my fonts that are placed in $TEXMFHOME.
