To be fair, RHEL 4 is still shipping with 2.0.2.  Red Hat does
have 3.0 in rawhide, but you have to be pretty crazy to run that.

From my limited experimentation, teTeX 3.0 has changed a whole
slew of fairly fundamental things, which will definitely require
some time and effort to get a handle on.  If we need a sarge or
woody machine down the road to make sure everything works for a
backport, I'm sure I can supply one.
