Package: tetex-base
Version: 2.0.2c-7
Severity: minor

Hi!

After I installed a new font mapping (by adding a file under
/etc/texmf/updmap.d), run update-updmap and updmap, I got this
annoying message from xdvi:

xdvi: Warning: /var/lib/texmf/dvips/config/ps2pk.map: entry for font
"cmex7" on line 93 overrides previous entry.
xdvi: Warning: /var/lib/texmf/dvips/config/ps2pk.map: entry for font
"cmex8" on line 95 overrides previous entry.
xdvi: Warning: /var/lib/texmf/dvips/config/ps2pk.map: entry for font
"cmex9" on line 97 overrides previous entry.

The same happens when I run updmap with a fresh installation of
tetex-base. What happens is that the default file
/etc/texmf/updmap.d/00updmap.cfg contains both these lines:

MixedMap bsr-interpolated.map

and:

MixedMap ttcmex.map

Both of these maps include a (conflicting) mapping for the
above-mentioned fonts. Thanks to alphabetic sorting, the latter is
chosen by xdvi (just because "ttcmex" happens to sort after
"bsr-interpolated"), but it's not a good idea to include a duplicate
line in ps2pk.map. I wonder if there is a clean solution.

Regards,
Peter Tesarik

If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries
(latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong
output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the
error in your report. Don't forget to also include minimal examples of
other files that are needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps
to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures!

If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of
output (except when multiple pages are needed to show the problem),
you can probably minimize it further. Instructions on how to do that
can be found at

That's OK. I'm closing the bug, then.
