Well, normally we just take the software from the upstream author (in
this case TE) and package them the Debian way (make deb-files from
it). Normally we don't add additional parts or update them until
there is a new release from upstream. Unfortunately teTeX is a huge
package and not released quite often :-(. So we still use teTeX 2.0.2
from Fri Feb 28 20:53:26 CET 2003. The new teTeX 3.0 is visible at
the horizon (IMHO), but I'm afraid it won't enter unstable/testing
before sarge.
Yes, I was thinking about moving some parts of teTeX out of the
debian teTeX package to a separate one to make sure it gets more
updated (yes, I was thinking about Koma). But I got nearly no
respond, when I tried to discuss it. I guess we have to write a
teTeX-policy before we can start doing this. This is clearly a post
sarge issue.
So the only solution I have for you is to configure a local TEXMF
tree in /etc/texmf/texmf.d/05TeXMF.cnf and put the KOMA script from
CTAN there. Sorry!
