babel with arabtex
hi everybody... i'm alberto again. sorry to interrupt you but today happened something very
funny with tetex/arabtex/inputenc/ucs/utf-8/babel... i tell you.
i upgraded my debian distro today (i use debian testing/unstable) and compiled the new kernel 2.6.7...
and when going back to work with tetex and utf8 arabic (with arabtex), the thing wouldn't compile!!
i hadn't changed anything in the file! it simply didn't work. i got mad untill discover that if i removed
babel support (and therefore spanish support) the thing would work fine. ok, i said to my self: now
i lose spanish support (hyphenation, spanish context, strings and translations) too but i can still
more or less work.
after a few hours i decided to test again (by heavenly inspiration, i guess) intputenc with ucs/utf-8 and...
it worked!!! it worked when it hadn't done it before! now i can type directly spanish symbols (ñ,¿, á, é)
without problems!!
i know for sure that tetex was not updated when performing dist-upgrade. i have the same version than
before but, of course, many other packages were upgraded. version of tetex-base is: 2.0.2-9.
have hints? now the problem seems to be babel... i attach a simplified copy of the actual file i'm working on
and i print here the output i get when babel is activated.
