Yes, downgrading is not well supported, neither by dpkg nor by our
packages in particular. Excuse me for not pointing this necessity out -
on my system it didn't occur, but then it isn't unstable, rather
woody-bunk-2 plus manual backports.

Yes, that's #232725, fixed in unstable. Didn't know that it also exists
in woody - for now just install dialog.
