Bug#186354: Missing afm files for many fonts

Later in the bug (see http://bugs.debian.org/186354) it was made clear
that teTeX doesn't need those files. Therefore they should be packaged
separately, and it was suggested that you file a Request for Package
against the wnpp (Work needing and prospective packages) pseudo
package. 

However, meanwhile there is something similar available: The LM fonts in
the lmodern package, which are a completely free Type1 "mimic" of the
Computer modern fonts, in T1 encoding. It also contains afm files.

Can this package solve your problem?
