But the error occurs also with a recent woody version.

But that bug is closed yet, while we do have an actual problem here. I
didn't read the complete bug report, but it seems that we still have to
fix something in our package. 

I guess the best solution would be to move the removal (or rather
renaming) of the old script from the config script to postinst or
preinst.
