You might have had this idea yourself in the meantime (it's Wednesday,
and I'm reading the e-mail that reached me until Tuesday morning):

This is an upstream issue. While it's a good idea to correct it soon
(i.e. for sarge) in Debian, we should also submit this whish to Thomas.
