The version in a build dependency should represent what is really needed
(it shouldn't be higher than needed).

But when choosing between different so-versions of a library, you should
specify which version you want. Otherwise, e.g. an autobuilder on one
architecture or a person doing a NMU might compile the package in a
completely other environment on one architecture which might lead to
strange problems that are not reproducible on other architectures.

I'm using a self-compiled tetex-bin compiled with libt1-5 since at about
a month, and I didn't observe any problems, too.
