In any case it would be nice if the macros were consistent. It would
be nice if Debian would not modify the upstream macros, so the
upstream versions should be updated to the prefixed variants before I
bother latex-ucs' upstream to make the change.

My only concern is that updated packages will break existing documents
using these macros. An idea would be that an updated babel package
would ship a small sed script that converts the old to the new macros.
What do you think?
