I suspect you might make tetex packages broken by 
yourself.

I'd like to know precise error messages rather than your
opinion.

Perhaps the current tetex on your system might be broken 
too far, beyond my knowledge, so I'm not sure but,

if you can "purge" tetex-base, tetex-extra, tetex-bin
then you would be lucky and re-installation might fix the 
problem.  (But I suspect you would fail to purge them.)

if you can "dpkg -i --force-confmis tetex-*.deb" then
you would be lucky and the problem could be fixed.

If your are not so lucky, I don't know how to do ;)

BTW, your problem is completely different from the original
report, IMHO.
