Completely correct results. I cann't understand why you
got the error message as follows?
> Could not find default config file for dvipdfm (config).

Only one remaining possiblity is; please try the same "kpsewhich ..."
as root account and if you got the same results then it was
a mystery (or unbelievable) for me.
