Well, I can conceive of how this happen to be jadetex's problem.

I guess this is more likely the problem of environment (or
settings) than that of the metafonts itself or TFMs themselves,
that is, it is irrelevant where the metafont is or TFMs are.

For example, if this was caused by a setting of unnecessary or
unappropriate environment variables then it could be fixed
only with modification of postinst or someting of jadetex.

So, I guess, it might be too haste for you to reassign this bug
to tetex-extra.  It might be better if you (and the reporter)
CC'ed to tetex-maint... 

I would like to know the outputs of

env | grep TEX, env | grep INPUT, env | grep FONTS

etc. at least, in the first place.
