Bug#99621: Task-tex shouldn't depend on anything that forces you to install a full GUI system
Package: task-tex
Version: 0.4
Severity: wishlist
In the new task-tex package that has been uploaded yesterday (0.5) a
dependency has been added to texdoctk. Texdoctk in turn depends on a
full GUI envoronment. This is not a good thing for those who cannot,
or do not desire to, install a full set of
x-apps/desktop-components. It would be nice if task-tex was split so
that the cli/console-oriented programs were placed in the main
metapackage and the graphical add-ons were placed into another
metapackage depending on the former one in turn (something like
task-tex-gui).
(NB: I believe that this approach should be considered for other
Debian metapackages as well, thereof making it possible for someone to
install a fully featured environment of a given nature without
necessarily having to install X or a given desktop. Just my two
cents.)
