Package: tetex-base
Version: 1.0-5
Severity: normal

My LANG=ru_RU.KOI8-R

If I compile by latex russian text typesetted in koi8-r encoding

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Example %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage[koi8-r]{inputenc}
\usepackage[russian]{babel}
\begin{document}
%% Russian text in koi8-r enc
ÁÂ×ÇÄÅÖÚÉÊËÌÍÎÏÐÒÓÔÕÆÈÃÞÛÝßÙØÜÀÑÁÂ×ÇÄÅÖÚÉÊËÌÍÎÏÐÒÓÔÕÆÈÃÞÛÝßÙØÜÀÑÁÂ×ÇÄÅÖÚÉÊËÌÍÎÏÐÒÓÔÕÆÈÃÞÛÝßÙØÜÀÑÁÂ×ÇÄÅÖÚÉÊËÌÍÎÏÐÒÓÔÕÆÈÃÞÛÝßÙØÜÀÑ

\end{document}
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
then I see error mesages (overfull box etc) by characters that
correponds in encoding cp1251 to the characters using by me:
(dvi file is GOOD).

And vice versa: using

\usepackage[cp1251]{inputenc} results in error messages in koi8-r encoding.
