Bug#70668: I can't find the format file `pdflatex.fmt'!

Quoting "C.M. Connelly" <c@eskimo.com>:

>
> The short-term solution is for you to type (as root)
>
> fmtutil --byfmt pdflatex

This command fails, producing the following output:

This is pdfTeX, Version 3.14159-0.12r (Web2C 7.2) (INITEX)
(/usr/lib/texmf/pdftex/latex/config/pdflatex.ini
(/usr/lib/texmf/tex/latex/base/latex.ltx
(/usr/lib/texmf/tex/latex/config/texsys.cfg)
./texsys.aux found

\@currdir set to: ./.

Assuming \openin and \input
have the same search path.
