ConTeXt seems to be a set of TeX macros that give you a working
environment much like LaTeX (but with different commands). Much
of the documentation is only available in Dutch, but some is also
available in English. See <http://www.ntg.nl/context/support.htm>
for a start.
Omega incorporates Unicode support into TeX. I've seen some
interesting examples, but as a speaker and writer of English, I
don't see much of a need for Unicode support on my system.

I agree completely.
