With the unexpected removal of the network-manager applet I assumed the machine would lose network access, and could not restore it due to network being a requirement for installing the now missing packages. For a lot of users, this would be as good as an unusable system. But I might have been a bit quick with that: is that only the applet that is removed? The core network-manager package itself is staying in place, so network access is preserved? If I was wrong about the loss of network access, then the severity should probably be no higher than important. PS: I added a comment with the bts command, but I notice it is not made really obvious. Even I, knowing it was there, took a little while to find it under the "full text" link next to the severity change notice. I’m probably no longer going to rely on that comment system.
