I believe the upgrade has completed here with "apt-get upgrade -f".

Shouldn't we throw those hints in the release notes upgrade guide?

Or maybe changing the guide to say that the multi-step process (apt-get
upgrade + apt-get dist-upgrade) is *not* optional? I know at work we
always use the multi-step, if only to reduce downtimes...

Well, this is partly my fault for stuffing lots of reports in a single
bug report...

For example, I wonder if I should open (a?) separate bug report(s?)
about the various unexpected debconf prompts from irqbalance, localpurge
and base-password... I also found bugs in notmuch-emacs and
isc-dhcp-server packages that I had to workaround. Should I open bugs
about those as well?
