Bug#503728: Upgrade report Etch to Lenny (12-10-2008 18:40) on a Compaq Armada M700

I found a fix. It turned out that wmaster0 (not wlan0, that was a typo)
was renamed to eth1 by the rules in /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules.

The issue is discussed here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/udev/+bug/192845

Following the suggestions on that page, I have removed the file
/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules, causing it to be regenerated,
but now correct: the interface is not renamed to eth1, and the slowdown
on startup has gone.
