And I recommend to use "-c3 -X69" (or another value -X68 or -X67...you need to check it before you try, according to the DMA mode.  otherwise you may damage your harddisk) for much faster speed.

You'll need to enable DMA mode:

        hdparm -d1 /dev/hda

and to make it permanent, you'll need to make proper changes
in /etc/hdparm.conf
