That where any error messages are likely to be.Did you perform a sarge to sid upgrade, or just a regular sid to sid update ?
I've just run into this same issue. I run Debian testing, and I generally run `aptitude update && aptitude dist-upgrade` once a week or every other week. After updating last night I rebooted my laptop (older Toshiba 2655XDVD) and it would not load the Xorg server, dumping me at the command line login. Before this I don't remember the last time I rebooted; likely 4-6 weeks ago, I think.
Xorg.0.log: <http://thepierianspring.org/misc/Xorg.0.log> Original xorg.conf: <http://thepierianspring.org/misc/xorg.conf.200511031337>Nothing in the config has changed. My old XF86Config-4 file has the same config:
<http://thepierianspring.org/misc/XF86Config-4>It shows an error with the mouse. The mouse on the laptop is a stick mouse or eraser head, like the IBM ThinkPads. It operates on the PS2 interface. No problems before now.
Running `dpkg-reconfigure ... xserver-xorg` does not help resolve the issue. It tries to set it up as a synaptic mouse (I think that's a touchpad?). I tried a number of manual settings also without success.
I'm not too savy at configuring or troubleshooting X. Any suggestions? Maybe a problem with /dev/psaux ? Thanks, Randy.
