Well, I end up beeing just happy using a prism (on a 2.6.8-1 kernel)
based ZyXel (G-100) card after 1. year atmel usage (3com card). The
atmel driver is quite mature now, and support most of the iw* tools, but
there is still annoring bugs from time to time. 

But installing the Zyxel card was just a bless :-) The only "hard" part
is the firmware, but that is well documented.
